Ankashastra
Sanskrit term for Vedic numerology (anka = number, shastra = science/scripture). The numerological system rooted in Hindu tradition, connecting each number to a ruling planet.
Astro-numerology

B

Balance number
In Pythagorean numerology, calculated from your initials. Indicates how you return to equilibrium during emotional turmoil.
Bhagyank

Biorhythm
Four cycles that run from birth: physical (23 days), emotional (28 days), intellectual (33 days), and intuitive (38 days). Peaks and critical days can be calculated.
Birthday number
Simply the day of the month you were born (1–31), unreduced. Represents a specific talent or gift you came into this life with.

C

Chaldean numerology
Ancient Babylonian system, over 4,000 years old. Uses a different letter-to-number mapping than Pythagorean (A=1, F=8, O=7). Considered most mystically accurate by Cheiro.
Challenge numbers
Four obstacles calculated from your date of birth (early, middle, late, and main). Show the specific life challenges you're designed to transform.
Cheiro
William John Warner (1866–1936), Irish-British astrologer and numerologist. His book Cheiro's Book of Numbers (1926) popularised Chaldean numerology in the West.

In Chaldean and Vedic systems, calculated from the full date of birth. Represents where your path is leading — the direction your soul chose before incarnation.

E

Expression number
In Pythagorean numerology, calculated from the full name (all letters, vowels + consonants). Also called the "destiny number" in Western tradition. Shows your natural talents and abilities.

G

Grid (Lo Shu)
The 3×3 magic square from ancient China. Plotting your birth date on this grid reveals which numbers are present, repeated, or missing — each carrying specific meaning.

I

Intuitive cycle
One of the four biorhythm cycles — a 38-day rhythm that governs your intuition, subconscious awareness, and psychic sensitivity.

K

Karmic number
Numbers 13, 14, 16, and 19 appearing in your numerology before reduction. Indicate lessons or debts carried from past lives: 13 (transformation through work), 14 (discipline within freedom), 16 (ego dissolution), 19 (self-sufficiency).
Kua number
A Feng Shui number (1–9) calculated from your birth year and gender. Determines your lucky directions, auspicious colours, and compatible element.

L

Life path number
The most important number in Pythagorean numerology. Calculated from your full date of birth. Represents your core life purpose and the journey you're meant to walk. See our complete life path guide.
Lo Shu
The ancient Chinese magic square — a 3×3 grid where every row, column, and diagonal sums to 15. Forms the basis of Chinese numerology and Feng Shui.

M

Master number
Numbers 11, 22, and 33 — never reduced to single digits. Carry heightened vibrations: 11 (Illuminator, intuition), 22 (Master Builder, manifestation), 33 (Master Teacher, compassion).
Maturity number
In Pythagorean numerology, calculated from life path + expression. Activates around age 35 and shows the true self emerging in your second half of life.
Moolank
Vedic "root number" or "psychic number" — calculated from your birth day only (reduced to a single digit). Reveals how you see yourself and your fundamental nature.

N

Name correction
A Vedic remedy — adjusting the spelling of your name (adding/removing letters) to bring your name vibration into harmony with your moolank and bhagyank. Often used for business, branding, or signature purposes.
Namank
Sanskrit term for "name number" — the numerological value of your full name, calculated using either Pythagorean or Chaldean letter mapping.
Navagraha
The "nine planets" in Vedic astrology: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu (north lunar node), Ketu (south lunar node). Each Vedic number (1–9) is ruled by one of these.

Personal year
Your day of birth + month of birth + current year, reduced. Runs through a 9-year cycle (1 = new beginnings, 9 = completion). Shows the theme of your year.
Personality number
In Pythagorean numerology, calculated from the consonants of your name. Represents the first impression you make — the outer shell others see before knowing you.
Pinnacle numbers
Four major life cycles calculated from date of birth. Each lasts roughly 7–27 years and carries a dominant theme or opportunity.
Psychic number
Another name for Moolank — how you perceive yourself, your conscious self-image.
Pythagorean numerology
The Western numerology system, attributed to Pythagoras (c. 570 BC). Maps A–Z to 1–9 sequentially and forms the basis of most modern Western numerology software.

S

Soul urge
In Pythagorean numerology, calculated from the vowels in your name. Represents your deepest desires — what your soul secretly longs for, often hidden from the world.
Synthesis number
Numerastra's own term: the number that emerges consistently across Pythagorean, Chaldean, and Vedic systems. When all three agree, confidence is "very high" — the most reliable numerological signal.

U

Universal year
The numerological vibration of the year itself. 2026 = 2+0+2+6 = 10 = 1 (new beginnings). Combined with your personal year to reveal the broader cosmic theme.

V

Vedic numerology
See Ankashastra. The Indian numerological system rooted in the Vedas, linking each number to a planetary ruler.

In numerology, the energetic quality or "frequency" associated with a number. Every name, date, and place has a vibration; numerologists read these as indicators of character and destiny.

Z

Zodiac sign
Your astrological sign based on the date of birth. Combined with your life path number in astro-numerology to give a fuller reading.
